1st Round
OA1 Paul Wright
V OA56 Bloompy & Squeaky
Paul's car went left out of the hole & with the front wheels still in the air
there wasn't much he could do to avoid touching the centreline, handing the win
to the Norfolk boys 11.81/118mph to a loosing 8.19/184mph
(Disq)
OA81 Simon Barlow v OA 85 Mick Donohue
Mick's car died off the line & was pushed back, Simon ran his 1st
nine much to the crew's delight 9.976/134.9mph.
OA25 Pete Moore v OA79 Justin Krekelaar
Pete won 9.72/142mph to Justin's 10.19/111mph
OA83 Lee Cohen v OA76 Rick Hooper
Rick won this one against form 10.94/121mph to Lee's 11.83/119mph
I'm guessing Lee had nitrous problems.
OA82 Richard Colby v OA271 Chris Kenny
Richard won this match up 9.67/139mph to Chris's 11.56/122mph
OA31 Cliff Griffin v OA344 Ray Guy
Cliff won
10.09/126mph to Ray's 10.53/117mph. Afterwards Ray said it looked
like he had tried to get one meeting too many from his slicks.
OA5 Mike Callan v OA700 Phil Toppin
Mike ran 9.94/140mph to cover Phil's 11.50/120mph
OA16 Pete Ashworth v OA70 Mark Bracking
Pete suffered a transmission casing failure in the burnout, leaving Mark on a
solo 10.31/134mph
2nd Round
OA81 Simon Barlow v OA56 Bloompy & Squeaky
Simon had a nitrous problem on this one allowing the Caddy powered Pop to
Squeak by in the closest race of the event 11.65/117mph to The Orange
Pop's 11.70/116mph. 2 hundredths separated the cars at the stripe.
OA25 Pete Moore v OA76 Rick Hooper
Showing no I'll effects from last nights BBQ excess, driver & chef Pete
served up another nine second pass 9.74/143mph to Rick's 10.87/123mph
OA82 Richard Colby v OA31 Cliff Griffin
I don't have any details for this pair except Richard didn't run. Cliff went
through 10.42/100mph
OA5 Mike Callan
v OA70 Mark Bracking
Battle of the street cars here & both were up for it running personal bests,
however Mike's was bester 9.447/142.3mph to beat Mark's
10.249/135.1mph
Semi-Final
OA56 Bloompy & Squeaky v OA25 Pete
Moore
Semi Finals were new territory for the likeable duo, but the evil Pete
Moore with his henchman Oily Neil put an end to their dreams with a 9.76/143mph
to a loosing 11.87/116mph
OA5 Mike Callan v OA31 Cliff Griffin
Mike suffered "a systems failure" on launch causing the car to stumble before
picking up 12.22/102mph. Cliff ran through cleanly to take the win 10.30/125mph
Final
OA25 Pete Moore v OA31 Cliff Griffin
A short turn-around from the Semi's, but both teams were on their
game running their quickest of the event, Pete coming out on top with his Sonny
Lennard powered Fordson notching up his 1st ever event win & with it securing
the runner-up spot in this seasons championship. Times were 9.56/144mph
for the Overtime XS team to Cliff's valiant 9.90/132mph.
Well done guys great show!
Thanks to the track crew for letting us squeeze this race in as the last run
of the event, & for their hard work over the weekend
Thanks also to the organisers for again inviting us to this great event, &
for their support of the class.
After being knocked out of eliminations Paul Wright & the Guv
Racing team tagged on the back of the semi final session & ran 7.481/190.32mph
in the Alco-Pop Anglia to back-up the Outlaw Anglia ET & Speed Records from
Saturday.
Simon Barlow also took opportunity to run the Orange Pop again, resetting
his personal best to 9.818/136.34mph
