OA51 Mike Callan v OA31 Cliff Griffin Mike had had some spectacular skyward launches with his nitrous powered, non wheelie barred ride during the last couple of events. A rethink on the 4-Bar setting, before the 1st round of eliminations, allowed him to keep his foot in this time to beat Cliff with a 9.68/138.8mph (PB.)
Aidan Kenny won the Street Rodding In Motion reaction time prize with a 0.014 light in the 2nd qualifying session.
2nd Round PRO OA3 Paul Wright v OA344 Ray Guy The last 2 black Pop's in competition, Paul needed the points to stay in contention. Ray ran another 9 this time 9.70/138.5mph, but Paul was on-one, another PB & record this trip also passing the 180 mph mark for the 1st time 7.64/180.3mph.
OA2 Paul Hensher v OA25 Pete Moore Pete was up against it this one, his recent performance increase still a jot behind an on-form Paul Hensher & was he on form ! Propelling "Gas Attack" the long way round, before pulling the chutes just before the line 8.18/159.4mph (PB) to Pete's valiant 9.55/140.4mph
OA222 Mark Pointer v OA51 Mike Callan Mike enjoyed his last pass & was looking to improve, both cars put in spectacular burnouts. Mike left hard in now familiar wheels-up fashion & recorded yet another pb 9.64/138.9mph Mark however had this well covered 8.42/160.7mph
1st Round SPORTSMAN OA31 Cliff Griffin v OA81 Simon Barlow Cliff dialled-in 9.90 ran 9.982/118.9mph. Simon dialled in 10.90 ran 11.387/116.2mph. OA44 Martyn Payne v OA590 Aidan KennyMartyn dialled in 10.60 but broke-out running 10.58 (pb.) handing Aidan the win 11.47 on a 11.35 dial in
Semi-Final PROOA3 Paul Wright v OA2 Paul HensherThis was the 1st of the championship contenders match-ups, both teams coming into this round on the back of pb's, Paul hensher left 1st, but his car again made a move to the right forcing him to abort the run 10.23/126.0mph. Guv's car left hard & straight, carrying the wheels though the first gear change, at the top end the scoreboards showed 7.57/ 180.3mph a new PB but more importantly a new all time Outlaw Anglia record, now officially Europe's Quickest Pop. Well Done Team !
OA222 Mark Pointer - ByeMark prior to this round had fitted a nitrous kit to his Van which on Sunday was causing some head-scratching. Just before this run a bent micro switch was spotted & adjusted 8.28/161.9mph showed they were back on track.
Final SPORTSMAN OA590 Aidan Kenny v OA81 Simon BarlowAidan dialled in 11.42 & ran 11.485/117.2mph, which was too good for Simon's 11.74/114.1mph on an 11.90 dial in. Congratulations Aidan & team.
Final PRO OA3 Paul Wright v OA222 Mark Pointer Another important race as far as this seasons Real Steel championship was concerned, a win here for Mark would stretch his lead possibly beyond reach, but a win for Guv would close the 2nd-3rd place gap considerably. Paul got out of the hole 1st and never looked back ,taking the win & the round with 7.68/178.49mph but more importantly maximum points. against Mark's 8.41/158.5mph Paul Wright Also won the Carter Motorsport Lucas Oil prize for low-ET of the meet.
