Qualifying There were 3 qualifying sessions on Saturday, the result of these were:
Staging lanes photo copyright Gareth Evans Ian Norman & Paul Wright both successfully completed their licensing observed passes during qualifying. Congratulations to Pete for bagging the no.1 spot again Eliminations 1st Round OA2 Pete Ashworth v OA44 Martyn Payne Number1 vs. number 8 can often look unfair in Outlaw Anglia, until number 1 gets turned over ! Didn't happen here, Pete ran a business like 8.98/148.2mph to Martyn's 11.39/121mph 1st Round OA298 Steve Wells v OA80 Al O'Connor The closest match up on paper in the 1st round didn't disappoint between 2 regular super-gas racers. Both cars left together & stayed that way for a good portion of the run, Al over powering Steve towards the top end 9.715/134.7mph to 9.834/131.5 mph Steve Wells v Al O'Connor Top-End photo copyright Eurodragster.com 1st Round OA1 Paul Hensher v OA14 Ian Norman Ian went into this round with a diff problem, a "I'm just going to stage for the points" became a 13.50/110.5mph. Paul ran 9.82/148.6mph to progress to the semis. 1st Round OA11 Paul Wright - OA25 Pete Moore Paul with no burnout due to a slipping clutch ran 9.37/130mph to take the win. Pete ran 10.168/131.2mph to notch up his 1st points of the season Semi-Final OA16 Pete Ashworth v OA80 Al O'Connor Al knew he was up against it here turning up the wick again to run 9.61/137.5mph. Not enough to hold off Mr8 Pete made his 4th 8 second run of the weekend 8.985/147.5 mph to progress to the final. Semi-Final OA11 Paul Wright v OA1 Paul Hensher Paul Wright had been suffering with clutch problems throughout the meeting, & despite continued adjustments these were worsening. This caused him to "roll through" the beams whilst trying to stage. Paul Hensher saw the flickering of lights & also left, both cars leaving before the tree was activated meant no times or speeds, but more importantly a double disqualification, neither car progressing to the final. FINAL OA2 Pete Ashworth v Bye Pete's car was still very hot from a short turnaround, but after an initial hot starting problem, cruised through to take the win with a 13.52/83.2mph Pete's now streaking ahead in the points. |
