NSRA Nostalgia Nationals30 June -1 July 2001Shakespeare County RacewayEntrants
Saturday 30th JuneAidan Kenny couldn't attend as his car is still about a week away from completion.Saturday morning there were a couple of showers that interrupted proceedings slightly, this meeting is an exhibition (Non Championship) event for the Outlaw Anglias. Three sessions on Saturday & one Sunday morning gave the following
Sunday 1st July13:30OA25 Pete Moore v OA657 Neil GrantAfter Pete's first 9 second pass earlier in the day he was looking to back it up, Neil always quick off the tree & Mr consistent wouldn't be a pushover. Neil got away first as expected, but Pete soon powered past to his second quickest e.t. 10.14/136mph to Neil's loose out 10.72/124.6mph OA2 Bob Hancox v OA3 Cliff GriffinWith Bob still felling his way with a fresh motor, & Cliff running a personal best straight off the trailer yesterday, this one was too close to call. There was not much in it off the line, Bob looking very strong at mid track. and running through to take the win 9.92/133mph to Cliff's 10.83/120mph. But smoke at 3/4 track followed by the fire truck was a cause for concern. On closer inspection in the pits, a shortened ali rod poking out of the sump & an absent pushrod put an end to the Runaway team's day. Hopefully it wont keep them out too long. OA1 Rob StoneRob left the line with his signature wheels up launch, a solid pass netting 9.92/133mph 16:00OA1 Rob Stone v OA25 Pete MooreDue to Bobs breakage it was agreed to run this pairing straight off. But Rob's lucky charm was working again. Pete was unable to spark life into the 509ci Sonny's Motor in the staging lanes due to a flat battery. Rob on a solo put in another big launch, & ran through 10.32/130 mph. Thanks to NSRA for another great weekend, Pete Moore collected the trophy for Quickest Anglia: 9.813/140mph, & was last seen on the phone to his local, making sure the champagne was on ice. |
